Allegan County Fair is held annually at the fairgrounds on Douglas Street. It is a family-friendly event that offers something for all ages. The Allegan County Agricultural Society was organized in 1852 and the first fair was held at the County Court House. In 1856 eight acres of land was purchased in the current fairgrounds area. Over the years more land was purchased and the fairgrounds property currently consists of approximately 115 acres of land. In 1889 it became the first fair in Michigan to hold an evening fair. In 2024, the nine-day Allegan County Fair will take place from Friday, September 6 to Saturday, September 14.
