About the Festival
The Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival is annually held at the Seattle Center on Harrison Street in Seattle, WA. Japan’s former Prime Minister, Takeo Miki, gifted 1,000 cherry trees to Seattle on May 8, 1976. And this gift marked the beginning of the annual festival that has grown to become the largest of its kind in the Northwest. For the first two years the Cherry Blossom Festival took place at Seward Park, before moving to Seattle Center in 1978.
The Festival celebrates the rich heritage of Japan and features culturally educational programs, arts, technologies, food, entertainment, and lots of fun. In 2023, the three-day Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival will take place from Friday, April 14 to Sunday, April 16.
