About the Fair
Western Idaho Fair is held each year at Expo Idaho in Boise. The fair’s earliest roots date back to 1897 when it started as the Intermountain Fair which took place west of the city at the Idaho Agricultural Park, present day 21st Street. In 1936, the annual event became known as the “Western Idaho State Fair”. In 1967, the Fair assumed its current name and moved to Glenwood Street, where it is annually held.
What started as a simple agricultural fair in 1897, has grown to become a widely celebrated community tradition over the years. Western Idaho Fair offers many attractions including livestock, 4-H & FFA exhibits, fine arts, commercial vendors, competitions, midway rides, food, and more. In 2024, the ten-day Western Idaho Fair will be held from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 25.
