About the Festival
Austin Trail of Lights illuminates the iconic 350-acre Zilker Park each December. The event was first organized by Austin Parks and Recreation Department in 1965 and was called the “Yule Fest”. The Zilker Park Trail of Lights quickly grew to become a community-wide celebration and one of the most popular holiday festivals in the city.
With 2 million lights, holiday displays, activities, and so much more, the annual event celebrates the unique spirit and the awesome people of Austin. In 2022, the 16-day Austin Trail of Lights will be held from Thursday, December 8 to Friday, December 23.
