About the Livestock Show and Rodeo
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, also known as RodeoHouston, is annually held at NRG Park in Houston, TX. It is one of the largest livestock shows in the world. It all started with the creation of the Houston Fat Stock Show and Livestock Exposition in 1931. The first show was held in 1932 at the Democratic Convention Hall(Sam Houston Coliseum). The rodeo was added to the event for the first time in 1938. In 1957, the Show presented its first major educational scholarship($2,000), which was awarded to Ben Dickerson. In 1961, the Fat Stock Show became Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
In 1990, Margaret Thatcher(British Prime Minister) and a few other world leaders visited the event. In 2003, RodeoHouston was held for the first time at its new home, NRG Park. People visit the annual event to see the livestock show, carnival, horse show, rodeo, and more. In 2025, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will take place from Tuesday, March 4 to Sunday, March 23.
