Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival

About Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival

Wooden Boat Festival is held each year in October on the banks of the beautiful Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, Louisiana. The festival celebrates the rich maritime history of the St. Tammany Parish community. The event attracts about 30,000 visitors and stretches from Water Street and the Tchefuncte riverfront for several blocks to the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. The proceeds from the boat festival benefit educational programs and Madisonville lighthouse restoration.

Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival is a family-friendly event that allows visitors to view and sometimes board the boats. The festival is in fact a flotilla of fun, featuring great food, live music, and two days packed with activities. The event also features games, contests, arts & crafts booths, a parade, kids’ activities, entertainment, and more. The Quick ‘n’ Dirty Boat Building competition is one of the festival’s highlights, where participants have 14 hours to build a boat from the provided material. The event attracts scores of classic hand-crafted wooden boats from across the Gulf Coast including skiffs, trawlers, sailboats, luggers, cruisers, and vintage wooden boats dating back decades. In 2024, the two-day Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival will take place on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20.
