About the Fair

South Carolina State Fair is held annually at the fairgrounds located along Rosewood Drive in Columbia, SC.

It all began in 1839, when the State Agricultural Society was organized to establish a statewide fair. And state fairs were held in Columbia from 1841 to 1845 and from 1856 to 1861. In 1869, the State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina was created – which revived the fair and sponsors it to date. By 1903, the SC State Fair moved to its present location on Rosewood Drive.

South Carolina State Fair is a widely celebrated community tradition and an important economic contributor to the local economy. It is a typical country fair that offers plenty of fun, entertainment, and exciting activities for attendees. The State Fair features livestock shows, agricultural exhibits, commercial vendors, live music, circus performances, competitions, fair food, amusement rides, and more.

In 2024, the twelve-day South Carolina State Fair will begin on Wednesday, October 9 and end on Sunday, October 20.
