The Waimate Strawberry Fare is hailed as the largest annual regional event. It was first celebrated in 1984. Visitors swell to 14,000 attracted from all over New Zealand to this free family day out. In 2023, Waimate Strawberry Fare will be held on Saturday, 9 December.
