About the Festival

Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival (NCCBF) is held each year in San Francisco, CA. The festival celebrates Asian traditions and stunning cherry blossoms.

Formerly known as San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival, the event was first held for three days (March 29-31) in 1968. A group of Japanese American business and community leaders organized the first event to preserve traditions, revitalize the local economy, and strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations.

Today thousands of people attend the event each year making it one of the largest and most prominent cherry blossom festivals outside of Japan. NCCBF features arts & crafts, a food bazaar, live performances, the grand parade, a children’s village, cultural exhibits, and so much more. In 2024, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival will take place on two weekends i.e. April 12-14 & 20-21.
