About the Mantua Potato Festival
Mantua Potato Festival annually takes place at Buchert Memorial Park in Mantua, Ohio. The festival was first held in 1938, but was discontinued during World War II. It was then re-established in 1973, and has grown to become a widely celebrated community tradition.
In 1980, the festival successfully broke the Guinness world record for the largest single serving of mashed potatoes with a whopping 10,028 pounds. In 2017, the festival committee (along with staff from Crestwood School District) beat the Guinness world record for the largest Pierogi with a 200-pound dumpling.
Mantua Potato Festival is a fun-filled and family-friendly event offering something for everyone. The festival features live music, a parade, games, pageants, food booths, a potato stomp, a cornhole tournament, commercial vendors, potato chip eating contests, mashed potato eating contests, mashed potato wrestling, and much more. In 2024, the three-day Mantua Potato Festival will be held from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8.
