International Day To Combat Islamophobia is observed each year on 15 March. It is an international observance designated by the UN General Assembly to expand international efforts to create a global dialogue that will encourage tolerance and peace based on respect for human rights and the diversity of religions and beliefs. Pakistan introduced the resolution and UNGA unanimously adopted it on 15 March 2022.
On 15 March 2019, a gunman entered two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 51 Muslim worshippers. The gunman also injured at least 40 people during the attack. The resolution also marks the day of the Christchurch attack.
In 2024, International Day To Combat Islamophobia will be observed on Thursday, 15 March.
