International Day of the Midwife(IDM) is observed on May 5 every year. It was founded by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) in 1992. Midwives devote their lives to caring for mothers and children. They play a vital role in providing health services like annual gynecological exams, labor & delivery support, and newborn care. They also educate about fertility, pregnancy health, nutrition, exercise, infant care, and contraception. This day is a global recognition and celebration of the Challenging work of midwives.
International Midwives’ Day will be observed on Friday, May 5, 2023.
